SAVE THE CHILDREN

FUNDS FROM AMERICA “ADOPTION” SCHEME (Britmh Official Wireless.) Reccl. 9 a.m. RUGBY, May 28. One hundred British children in Britain have been “adopted" by Americans through the save-the-children fund and 600 further such arrangements will shortly be made. Americans from every branch of society are taking part in the scheme. The sum of £5 yearly is sent for each child cared for —by taxi drivers, shopkeepers. office girls, High Court judges and old-age pensioners. A snapshot of the child concerned goes to each Godparent. The first batch of letters from children already helped by their new Godparents is on the way across the Atlantic.
