OVER £1,500,000 MARK

DEPOSITS AND BONDS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The latest returns received show that receipts from the national savings campaign have now passed the £1,500,000 mark, the actual figure being £1,558,085. Of this total. £601,685 represents receipts from the sale of national savings bonds and £896,400 deposits in national savings accounts. From inquiries made it appears that a large section of the community is under the impression that national savings bonds are no longer available. The national savings office advises, however, that national savin/? bonds are still on sale in denominations of £l, £lO and £IOO at all post offices and banks, the purchase prices being 17s 6d. £8 15s, and £B7 10s respectively. These bonds , carry interest at 3 per cent per annum for a term of five years from the date of issue and are gilt-edged, negotiable securities.
