APPROPRIATION ASKED (Reed. May 7, noon.) MANILA, May 6. Declaring that the trend of events seemed to point “strongly to the United States entry into the war,” the President of the Philippines, Don Manuel Quezon, asked the Assembly to appropriate 10,000,000 pesos to provide civilian defences and also to extend the emergency powers.
