MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS

RQTQRUA’S £45,380 WORK The first authoritative statement on the cost of the Rotorua municipal buildings was made at a meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council last week. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, gave an assurance that rates would not have to be used to meet interest and sinking fund charges on the building, and that the revenue from the building and library bequest was sufficient to meet expenditure. Mr. Jackson pointed out that, despite the fact that there were many items not in the original estimates whitih Would not recur, and the fact that the hying-out of the garens round the building had been completed one year ahead of schedule, because of a favourable offer of material, the balance to be provided for the year was only £369. The .total cost was £45,380.
