TRANSIT OF NAZIS
SWEDISH AGREEMENT PERMIT IN RETURN MATERIALS FOR DEFENCE (Reed. May 5, 3 p.m.) STOCKHOLM, May 4. “Sweden intends to effectively defend her freedom and •, independence in domestic and foreign Ipolicies,” said the Swedish Foreign Minister, M. Christian Guenther. “Certain circles seem inclined to think that Swedish and German relations consist of repeated demands by Germany, after which concessions are granted by Sweden. This conception is as false as it is dangerous. “Sweden, under the special transit agreement, promised to allow the passage of German troops without infringement of neutrality. Germany in return permitted the delivery of materials for strengthening Sweden’s defences.”
