FISHING CONDITIONS
ROTORUA AND TAUPO Rough weather with heavy rain squalls and wind has deterred fishermen in the Rotorua and Taupo districts during the past few weeks, according to the conservator of fish and game, Mr. A. Keen. At suitable times, however, there has been good sport at the mouths of some of the rivers flowing Into Lake Taupo.
Hamurana, although not greatly patronised, fished well, and fairly good sport was obtained at the mouths of the Ngongotaha and Awahou streams. There was a small run of fish in the Ngongotaha and Utahinn streams and also in the Ohau Channel. Anglers met with fair success at times at Ruato in Rotoiti, where the largest bag reported was one of 16.
At Taupo wind from a northwesterly direction made fishing practically impossible at many of the favoured spots on the lake. However, anglers met with fair sport fishing in the sheltered bays between Taupo and Acacia Bay.
