Senor Padilla, rejected last night formal requests by Germany and Italy for the immediate release of 12 Axis me: chant vessels which were seized recently in Mexican ports. In identical notes to the Italian and German Ministers, Senor Padilla asserted that to withdraw from these ships and place them without restriction:: under the authority of their captains would not only involve in danger the security of these vessels nut would be a threat to the safely of Mexican maritime traffic.
