GISBORNE CRICKET good performances MR. DWYER'S COACHING At last night’s meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. P. C. Dwyer, on behalf of the association and the High School, for his work in coaching junior players. In reply. Mr. Dwyer expressed tire hone that other cricketers might join in Inis work and thus ensure that ionics Mayors received coaching on the rich* lines during their early cricketing years. Votes of appreciation were passed i .o to Kcsdaiv.es Blgnell and Leo. the Umpires’ Association, and Mr. James Marlin for the services they had rendered to cricket and the association during the year. The final •competition points taken during the season were.--Senior A Grade: Marist and City. 50 points: G.H.5.0.8.. 52: Old Boys, £2. Senior B Grade: Gisborne Club. 9.": Civil Service. 99: Marist, 94; G.H.5.0.8. Whiles. 83; United. 71: G.H.5.0.8. Blues. 01: High School A. 51: High School B. 34. Junior Grade: High School R. 74: High School A and Marist. 72: High School Rectory, 56: Intermediate A. 20; Intermediate B. 0. Shortage of Umpires The Umpires' Association advised that owing to the shortage of umpires during Ih.c season it had been found impossible to umpire many of the matches in the Senior B Grade, and it had been found impossible to allocate points for these matches for the S. K. White Competency Cup. The following points results were submitted: City. 271: Marist Senior A. 266: G.H.5.0.8. Senior A. 2GI; Old Boys. 257. The following excellent performances from March 1 to the close of the season were put cn record:—Senior A Grade.—Batting: -M. A. O'Brien, 172 runs far Poverty Bay against Hawke's Bay oil March 22. Club secretaries were requested to complete and hand in their averager as soon as possible, and also were reminded that they must have their gen boxes removed from the Oval as soon as possible.
