OBITUARY
MRS. AGNES HORSFALL WAIROA-BORN MAORI The death occurred yesterday of Mrs. Agnes Horsfall, a well-known and respected Maori resident of the Gisborne district, who for the past two years had been declining in health. Mrs. Horsfall was (16 years of age, and until her health failed had taken a prominent part in Maori social activities in the district. She was born at Wairoa, and was twice married, her iirst husband being Mr. Panapa W a >- hopi, Te Karaka. After his death she married Mr. Pomare Horsfall, a Ngatapa settler, whose death occurred 20 years ago. Mrs. Horsfall was a keen racing enthusiast, and attended many of the racing carnivals of the North Island for several years. After the death of Mr. Horsfall she took un residence in Gisborne. She had tribal connections with the Ilongowhakaata and Kahungunu people, and was widely known and respected. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving Manutukc at 2 p.m. for the Waerenga-a-hika cemetery.
