THEFTS FROM HOTELS

BORSTAL FOR WOMAN £lO2 IN GOODS TAKEN (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A 23-year-old typist, Patricia Mary Treacy, was sent to the Borstal institution for two years by Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., to-day, on seven charges of theft front hotels of goods valued at £lO2. The offences were committed at Wellington and Auckland. Detective-Sergeant McClung said that the girl, with a male friend, arrived from Wellington last month, and stayed at a hotel in the city. She was then on probation, one of the conditions being that she should not associate with this man. “She could accurately be described as a hotel thief and shoplifter,” said Detective-Sergeant McClung. “She has two previous convictions. The man made a lot of promises about restitution, but that is all.”
