FRIENDLY SOCIETIES NEW WINNERS TURN UP FINAL TO RECHABITES Another new winning team was found last night in a further indoor bowls tournament in the series conducted by the friendly societies of Gisborne. The Rechabites A team secured the win after some games that were full of interest and a final which produced some of the best bowls seen in the tournament series. The final was contested against the Encampment, who won last month’s tournament, and each member of the two teams was well up to form. Rechabites secured a good break with the score at 6 —l after the third head. Encampment improved witli a two and a four on the next two heads, taking the lead by one; but Rechabites, with a t\Vo, bad the advantage with only the final head to play. On this the Encampment skip tailed in an attempt to trail the jack to a cluster o! his own bowls, and left the Rechabites with four up on the head. The winning team included two women. The host lodge for the evening was the Foresters’ Lodge, and the tournament was played in the Oddfellows Hall, Mangapapa. Fourteen teams took part. Results were:— First Round—Foresters A 5 v. Manchester Unity B 1; Manchester Unity C 6 v. Druids A 4; Foresters B 5 v. Druids B 4; Encampment 6 V. Manchester Unity A 5; Rechabites A 5 v. Druids C 1, Mangapapa 8 v. Hibernian 2; Star of Gisborne 6 v. Rechabites B 3.

Second Round.—Rechabites A 4 v. Mangapapa 3; Encampment 7 v. Foresters B 0; Foresters A 8 v. Manchester Unity C 2; Star of Gisborne, a bye. Semi-finals— Encampment 5 v. Star of Gisborne 4; Rechabites A 9 v. Foresters A 5.

Final.—Rechabites 12 v. Encamp ment 7.
