SALE OF WAR EFFORT
The Siegfried colt, War Effort, won by Mr. C. West, Kaponga, in the patriotic funds drive, was not offered at auction at Wellington. Mr. West advised the auctioneers. Wright, Stephenson and Company, that he had sold the colt privately, and that he would be trained for his new owner by J. (Brown at I-lawera. The majority of the lots were passed in. The two principal sales were a.s follows: —On account of Mr. G. M. Currie, Koatanui: Brown colt by Posterity from Lattice, to M. Marinovich, Auckland, 200gns. On account of Mr, R. Brendon Esher, England: Filly, by Tommy Atkins from Cloelia, 3 years, to J. Nash, Dargaville, 575gns.
