LONG RACING HOLIDAY

CIRCULAR NOTE’S CAREER

Very few horses in New Zealand have developed winning form aflei they have entered their sixth year, and the only case comparable with that of Circular Note in recent years that can be recalled is that of Zetes. Circular Note raced twice as a two-year-old without success, and nothing further was heard of the Paper Money gelding until this season, when he was being trained at Riccarton by R. Register. He had two successes from that stable, including the flawkesbury Handicap, when he was awarded first place after a narrow defeat by Sham Boy at Waikouaiti. • He then went into the stable of T. R. George at Trentham, and in five starts he has won four times. In the. Ruapehu Handicap at Trentham in January, Circular Note saccounted lor Augment, but, although he has now won six times, he is only now running out his hack nominations. His total stake-winnings are £915. Circular Note is one of the last remaining links in commission with the two well-known sires Paper Money and Charlemagne 11, a son of St. Simon, who was imported to the Dominion in 1907. Sister Radius, dam oi Circular Note, is the oldest of the surviving brood mares by Charlemagne 11. She had previously made notable contributions'‘to the turf in New Zealand in Loughrea and Circulation, fob lowing a restricted racing career, in which, however, she won at weight-for-age.
