STRONG SHEEP DEMAND There was a strong demand for sheep at the Ruatoria stock sale conducted by Messrs. Williams and Kettle, ‘Limited, and the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat and Mercantile Company, Limited, on Thursday, when mere was a yarding 01 nearly 3000 rheep and 200 station cattle. An almost entire clearance was effected. Prices ranged as follows: Ewes.—Two-tooth, small, 13s 8d; 4 tnd 6-tooth. 13s 8d; 4-year, 12s Gd: 5-year, 7s 4d to 11s 1 Od; mixed ages, 10s Id to 13s 2d; aged, 4s to 7s Gd; fat ewes, 12s Id. LOWER EGG PRICES A reduction of 4d per dozen took place in the price of eggs in Gisborne his week, and the retail price is now 2s a dozen, with the payment to the producer on a basis of Is Bd. The reduction in price is said to be due tc a slackening in the demand rather hnn to any improvement in the rate of production.
