EASING SHEEP VALUES SLUMP IN PIG PRICES MATAWHERO STOCK SALE The easier store sheep values noted during the morning's selling at. the Matawhero stock sale yesterday continued throughout the afternoon session. where the demand was even less keen than up to lunch. After five weeks without rain, except for a few showers that have been of no benefit to the pastures, feed is beginning.to become scarce throughout the district again, and there is a reluctance to stock up when there is any doubt of the autumn rains being late in coming. Tire dry spell was reflected also in Ihc pig market, where there was a decided slump in values, following 'a rapid decline in the milk supply. The yarding of pigs was a fair one, and some cheap pigs were available, weaners selling down to 6s and up to 12s fid. Light stores ranged from 17s fid to 255, light porkers sold at 30s, and heavy porkers at £2 Its, The easing tendency in store stock values is noticed also in the Waikato, where pastures are beginning to show the effects of the dry spell. In the main, store sheep values are little altered, but the demand this week was scarcely as keen as previously, although in some instances the demand was steady for store lambs, of which entries were smaller. The inquiry for breeding ewes held up well. The store cattle market showed an easier tendency.
