CLOTHING DEARER

BRITISH LIVING COSTS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Feb. 19. The general cost of living figures at February I showed an increase of one point over the level of January 1. This rise, the Ministry of Labour states, was due to an increase in clothing prices which was largely attributable to the effects of the purchase tax.

For food alone the index figure was one point lower than on January 1. This decline was due to reductions in the prices of eggs, but was partly offset by increases in the price of fish and potatoes.
