GRANT MAINTAINED
BRITISH UNIVERSITIES (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m RUGBY, Feb. 19. In view of the importance of maintaining as far as possible the standards of university education and the essential contribution the universities are making in a variety of ways towards the national effort, the Government has decided to maintain the grant for the current year at £2,149,000, which is the same level as that given in 1939.
This was announced in the House of Commons by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Kingsley Wood, replying to a question in Parliament.
