As a result o£ the January wool appraisement, the biggest of the present season to date and the largest since the war appraisements commenced, £300,145 7s 4cl has been allocated for distribution in the Gisborne and East Coast districts.

In all, 17,166 bales were disposed of at the three centres, and the average price realised per bale was £l7 10s, or, on a 3501 b, bale, just on 12d per lb. The cheques, covering all but the retention money, were distributed today.

For the season to date almost £750,000 has been allocated for distribution in the Gisborne and East Coast districts from wool appraisements. Last season’s total was' £850,000 on 50,000 bales of wool. So far this season 41,000 bales have been appraised, and it seems likely that this season's clip should exceed that of the 1939-40 period, Centre Realisations The following table shows the payments made at each of the appraisements of the season to date: —

By 'this time last year less than 25,000 bales had been appraised, the total payments to that date being £430,000.

Auckland has distributed £1,182,292, compared with £1,357,000 over the corresponding period last year.
