WHANGARA MEETING

OVER 100 PRESENT A meeting-comprising more than 100 men was held in the Whangara Hotel last night to organise a unit of the Home Guard. Mr. H. B. Williams was in the chair and later was appointed chairman of the local committee, of which Mr. W. D. Barker was elected secretary. The gathering was addressed by Colonel R. F. Gambrlll-, area commander, and enrolment forms were distributed. A big percentage of those present comprised Maoris, who displayed much enthusiasm in the movement, The first parade was fixed for next Saturday.
