DOCTORS GIVE SERVICES

OTTAWA, Jan. 4

War Services Department officials said to-day that some of the department examining physicians, who were issued cheques to pay for their examinations of men called for military training, refused to accept the remuneration.

"I served in the last war, but am too old to do the same in this one,” one doctor said, “so the least I can do to help win is to offer my services to the Government free of charge.” The department said other physicians had turned over their cheques to wartime charities. All Canadian medical practitioners were appointed examining physicians under the compulsory military training plan.
