£10,284 RECEIVED

SICK AND WOUNDED FUND GISBORNE DONATIONS MONEY STILL COMING Gisborne and East Coast donations to the sick and wounded fund, promoted by the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society, totalled £10,284 ss, according to a statement made to-day by Mr. H. H, De Costa, chairman of the joint committee which sponsored the appeal in this district.

Since July last the joint committee has not canvassed for donations, but there has been a steady trickle of money into the district fund, most of this being due to late realisation of promises made to the committee during the campaign. When the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, met the East Coast Provincial Patriotic Council last week, the statement was made that the sick and wounded fund appeal in this district had realised about £1)000. ( The joint committee is anxious that there should be no misunderstanding concerning the result of the appeal, which, it is pointed out, will yield further amounts as promises still unfulfilled are made good.
