A Woman Director

“The British Leather Research Association has for its director a woman, Dr. Dorothy Jordan Lloyd, who succeeded Sir Robert Pickard, now director of the Cotton Research Association at Manchester,” said Dr. H. C. Holland in an address to the Institute of Chemistry in Christchurch. “Dr. Lloyd has been a great success as director and has succeeded in breaking down the prejudice which formerly existed against the position being held by a woman. She has a very definite place in the scientific world in England, having published many papers and a book on the chemistry of proteins.” When in Napier be sure to call at the “Home of Good Eats” —that’s the “Trocadero”—Hastings Street.*
