TOKOMARU BAY NEWS

FAREWELL PARTY (11 (trnld Correspondent.) On Friday evening, Mrs. M. L. I-lolah’s home, Hautanoa, was the scene of much gaiety when the young friends of Mr. Jasper Holah farewelled him prior to his departure for Auckland to join the navy. Mrs. Holah, wearing a smart frock of black taffeta, with ecru lace vestee, received the guests. Games, dancing and community singing caused the time to pass all too quickly. After an enjoyable supper, Mr. J. Holah was toasted with musical honours, and, on behalf of those present, was presented by Mr. O. Rodda with a cheque. Mr. Holah suitably replied. Among those present were Misses D. Bryden, B. and S. Doig, I. Mackay, P. Sampey, P. Todd. ,J. Riddell, M. Chafl'ey, L. and M. Cullen, P. Wilkins and W. Oates; Messrs. E. Corbett, W. Marshall, C. Nailer, F. WhiiTen, B. Stevens, P. Tyrell, J. Oates. W. Thompson, K. Zuppicich. C. Whelan, O. Rodda, W. Chafl'ey, D. MacMillan. A. King, and G. Wheeler. In aid of the East Coast queen the first of a series of three bridge evenings conducted by the Hautanoa Sports and Library Committee was held last week. Six tables were engaged in play, prize-winners being Mesdames J. Riddell, M. Forrester and D. Geary.
