SPORTS QUEEN DANCE JOLLY FUNCTION (Herald Correspondent.) A jolly dance held in the Motu Hall on Saturday night, proved a financial success. The function had been arranged to further the candidature ol' the sports queen, Miss Margaret Witters, in the patriotic queen carnival and a number of young people travelled from Gisborne to be present. Miss Witters was introduced by Mr. B. S. Bree, Gisborne. Musk for dancing was played by Miss Lena Ruru, with the accompaniment of a saxaphonc, and enjoyable extras were contributed by Miss Una Reed and Mr. A. Crozier. Mr. W. J. Reed was the M.C. Winners at cards were Mrs. N. G. Nisbett and Mr. E. Whitehead, and other prizes went to Mrs. G. T. Hutchins and Mr. N. G. Nisbett. Novelty dances were won by Mr. and Mrs. W. Stewart and Miss P. Twisleton and Mr. T. Tombleson. The visitors from Gisborne included Misses M. and L. Witters, I. Somervell, T. Parker, P. McNeill, J. Neal, M. Shone, M. Scott, S. Hamilton, J. Miller, N. Henderson, B. Quinn,' J. Upton, and P. Cleary; Messrs. B. S. Bree, J. and E. Tietjen, D. and T. Witters.
