TRENTHAM GALLOPS
LITTLE FAST WORK SLY FOX GOES WELL (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. There was not a great deal of fast work at Trentham yesterday, and most of the tasks were of a solid pacing and exercise nature. The course proper was open, and was in splendid order. Kentucky and. Enrich ran six furlongs together in 1.16, the last halfmire in 50jSsec. Serenata compassed 'he best half-mile, coming home in 48Jsee. Duvach was going easily alongside Rich Blood in SOJsec., while Blue Border beat Maharajah in 49sec. Sir Cameron loafed over a mile with Trench Law, the pair being under restraint to register 1.59. Master Cyklon was nearly a length clear of Sly Fox, with The Ring well back, after running a mile in 1.49. Sly Fox went particularly well, but The Ring is a lazy track worker. Siegmund and Lambourn were together a couple of lengths clear of Yogi after traversing seven furlongs n 1.30, which was a good gallop. Among the two-year-olds to gallop were Par Avion and Pay Roll, who were going easily, the pair running town from the haif-mlle in 49sec. Corn D rince beat River Plate, Forsake and Kevin, but the gallop could not be timed owing to the mist, while Foreign Coin, on the bit, led Daljarrock and Saka Bona in a similar task. Royce was too speedy for Gunyah and Lady Boswal over the same ground. The only schooling was that of Esperance Bay and Ruling Star over four hurdles, both jumping satisfactorily. Scratchings are:—Wellington Handicap: Anita Foe, at 9.5 a.m. Rimutaka Handicap: Gayest Son. Wellesley Stakes: Dunglee. Guineas: Lou Rosa.
