ONE NIGHT SEASON

“TROOPSHIP AHOY!” SAVAGE CLUB’S REVUE Public interest in the Gisborne Savage Club’s patriotic revue, to be staged to-morrow in the Opera House, is indicated by the manner in which the box plan has been filling up this week. The production, under the title of “Troopship Ahoy!” is to be presented for one night only, and the lavish scale on whi*-h it has been planned will make a repetition of the performance at a later date difficult. For this reason, it is expected that patriotic patrons will take the opportunity of seeing the company’s performance to-morrow. Written and produced by Mr. Will B. Keany, the revue is at topical as its title, and the principal setting, the deck of a troopship somewhere at sea, offers ample scope for humour. It is unlikely that any troopship ever had the cargo of mirth and melody the Savage Club’s craft carries, or the advantage of an orchestra such as the club’s musical combination under the conductor, Mr. M. L. Foster. Special scenery has been prepared by Mr. T. G. Johns, and lighting effects are to be used to their full advantage, especially in the appearance of the “Whareongaonga Band” and the performance of the “Three Old Salts.
