Japanese Precautions
The stringent precautions taken by the Japanese to prevent unauthorised commodities entering their country was illustrated by Mr. G. A. Glennie, Wellington, who has returned from an extensive tour which included the Far East. Mr. Glennie said that among other things, including cameras, he and fellow-travellers had been forbidden to take more titan 10 cigarettes ashore with them at Japanese ports. Cigarette cases were inspected, 10 cigarettes were officially stamped, and any additional were confiscated. Some possengers lost hundreds pf cigarettes inis way, he added, but it was their fault for they were warned of the restriction and could have left the extra cigarettes on the ship.
