EARLY IN NOVEMBER DECISION NEXT WEEK MEETING OF COMMITTEE It. is expected that the Poverty Bay Cricket Association’s season will open on either the first or second Saturday in November. These dates were suggested at a meeting of the management committee last night, but the meeting agreed to defer a decision until next meeting, when a report from the grounds committee will be available. A decision regarding the start of practices will be made at the same time. Nominations for the club competitions were received last night. The usual four teams were entered for the Senior A Grade and four came forward for the Junior Grade, but for the Senior B Grade a reduction of two loams was noted, City and United B failing to provide teams, leaving eight teams, against 10 last year, in that section. A request came from the Gisborne Intermediate School Committee for the use of the association's mower to cut the school grounds, and a sub-com-mittee comprising Messrs. G. E. Slade, R. H. Cook and D. A. Wells was appointed to complete matters. School Matches A further request was made from both the Intermediate School Committee and the Primary Schools’ Sports Association for the use of wickets on week days. It was decided to advise the schools that only one clay in the week, Monday or Tuesday, would be available for school matches. A discussion took place regarding the possibility of purchasing a tractor for mowing and rolling the grounds, and the secretary was instructed to obtain particulars and prices. A request was made by Mr. A. E. Bignall to the various clubs for donations to assist the Umpires' Association in its work.
The meeting decided to put the association’s sections in Anzac street and Stanley road on the market for sale as early as possible. The following postponement committee was appointed: Messrs.
