RIFE AMONG MAORIS CHURCH SEEKS REMEDY BISHOP SIMKINS CONCERN (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. •• The position of the work of the church among theWlaori people of the diocese gave cause for serious concern, said Bishop Simkin, addressing the Anglican synod to-day. . “The prevalence of drunkenness, lack of control in moral conduct and indifference to worship are three evils which demand the serious attention of synod,’’ Mr. Bishop continued. “The church cannot stand aside merely looking on and doing nothing to stem the devastation of the spiritual lives of the Maori people. We must seek to find out where our weakness lies and apply a remedy.” In the fullest co-operation with the Bishop of Aotearoa, he hoped to exercise towards the Maori people the ministry of his office and to bring more closely together in the worship and the service of God the people of two races.
