AUSTRALIAN PLANE CRASH IN MOUNTAINS (Reed. Oct. 2, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. .1 A Royal Australian Air Force training plane crashed in the Blue Mountains to-day during a thick mist Pilot-Ofiicer Lionel Webber, aged 23,, who was flying the machine, baled out. He was unhurt. He reached a farmhouse and told his story. Lost >n the mist, he became detached from two other planes. He searched in vain for a place to land. The machine went into a spin and caught fire and was destroyed.
