CROPS FRESHENED

NEW SOUTH WALES RAIN SYDNEY NEEDING MORE (Reed. Oct. 2, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 2. Nearly the whole of New South Wales greatly benefited by the substantial rain which began last Saturday and is still falling at intervals in coastal areas. The rain has freshened the crops and given dairy farmers, particularly on the south coast, hew heart. Sydney's catchment area is receiving a drenching, but the Water Board officials declare the rain has so far added only a week’s supply to the depleted dams. The Weather Bureau has announced that the rain disturbance is veering away from the Australian coast towards the north of New Zealand.
