RIVER GROSSINGS
HARRIERS’ HARD RUN MUSTER ON SATURDAY Harriers of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club had a very successful outing on Saturday, when a run was made from the residence of Mr. Harris, Russell street, over a coursb of approximately seven miles. The course led up to the hill via Fox street. Once at the top the packfollowed the ridge found until opposite (the Hole-in-the-Wair, and from this point followed the spur straight down to the river. Though only knee-deep, the wafer was muddy and running swiftly, making it difficult to maintain a foothold' on the reeky bed of the stream. Two harriers received a good wetting, but all crossed safely. The river-bank was followed dbwn-stream as far as the island, where the harriers crossed the fiver again on to Riversideroad. The run home resulted: F. Forge. 1: D. I.ougher, 2; H. Patterson. 3. Points for the special trophy donated for the season’s aggregate in the runs, bomb nbw stall'd: R. Howard, 1(1; It. Beattie. 11; K. Morse, 12; T. Turley. K. Forge. 6; C. Parkinson, 5; R, Harries. D. Rougher, it. Patterson. 3; M. Dixon. 1. The second distance for the Beattie Cup. Will be run next Saturday from--89 Stanley road at 2 p.m.
