Last Night’s Forecast General Situation: A vigorous depression is moving eastwards across the Dominion, the lowest pressures being in the south. Intense anticyclones are located beyond Chatham Islands and over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, fresh to strong westerlies to southerlies becoming almost general during the next 24 hours. Seas: In New Zealand waters, rough on the west coast, moderate on the east coast, but. rising later south of Dunedin. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong to squally south-west winds and rough seas. Weather: Changeable and becoming colder, with passing showers in most districts, but; more particularly in those exposed to the jouth-west; some snow probable in the ranges in both island's.- and possibly hail in places. ' To-day’s North Island Report Dine skies with detached clouds were general throughout the North Island to-day, with heavy cloud conditions north of East Cape. A gentle north-westerly, breeze prevailed. The barometer fell slightly during the night. Temperatures at 9 a.m. were: East Cape. 54 degrees; Gisborne. 53: Auckland, 52: Taurnnga aiu,l Napier, 51: Wellington, 50. Seas were smooth In moderate generally.
