U-BOAT THREATS
INTENSIFIED WARFARE BRITISH SEA ROUTES ARGENTINE VICTIM BOAST OF SINKINGS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. May 31, noon.) LONDON, May 30. The German news agency in Berlin to-day threatened an intensification of the submarine warfare. It says that the training of additional crews has been completed and the submarine fleet will now concentrate its activities on British sea routes, “especially as the ports of eastern England are already blocked.” A U-boat to-day reported the sinking of seven enemy steamers totalling 38,480 tons.
Speaking in Buenos Aires to-day the Argentine Foreign Minister, Senor Cantilo, confirmed a Madrid report that the Argentine steamship Uruguay was sunk 130 miles west of Cape Finisterre. Spain, by a German submarine, which forced the crew to abandon the ship. Fourteen members of the crew had arrived at Corunna. The other 14 were missing
