SCOUT SILVER CROSS
CHRISTCHURCH BOY RESCUE FROM DROWNING (Pur l’russ Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, as Dominion Chief Scout, has approved of the award of the Silver Cross of the Boy Scout Association to David Stanley McLcnaghan, aged 13, of the Somer field Methodist Troop, Christchurch. Last January, at the risk of his life, Scout McLcnaghan saved Brian Spu'rr from drowning at Okam’s Bay, Banks Peninsula, and made two gallant but unsuccessful endeavours to rescue Desmond Spurr. In recommending Scout McLcnaghan for the Silver Cross, officials of the Boy Scout Association expressed the opinion that his action was fully in keeping with the highest traditions of the movement.
