WAR CABINET
“NOTHING LESS” OPPOSITION STAND WISHES OF PEOPLE NECESSARY LEADERSHIP MR. HAMILTON’S ANSWER (Special to the Harold.) WELLINGTON, this clay. "Nothing less than a national War Cabinet, free from all party influences, will be able to give this country the leadership it needs.” wrote the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, to-day. when pointing out to the Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, that his previous letter had specifically outlined the basis for further negotiations, but that Mr. Fraser had not replied to fhese proposals. Reiterating the necessity for a national War Cabinet, Mr. Hamilton stated: “Nothing less will satisfy the people and ensure a full national effort. A cumbersome War Council of 15 members on the lines you suggest would fail lamentably to achieve this purpose. “In essence you demand a War Council. Your determination to stand on the ground of that counter proposal to the entire disregard of the necessity of uniting Parliament and its leadership has obviously 1 made it unnecessary for further discussions in the meantime.”
