CRIPPS NOT WANTED
MOSCOW REBUFF BRITISH TRADE TALKS (Reed. May 30, 3 pm.) LONDON, May 29 ; It is authoritatively stated that Sir Stafford Cripps has gone to Moscow with diplomatic special status. The Soviet Ambassador, M. Maisky, called at the Foreign. Office to-day and received an assurance that Sir Stafford’s status was fully representative and authoritative. The Moscow radio stated to-day that the Soviet Government had informed Britain that the mission ot Sir Stafford Cripps was "unacceptable.” M. Molotov, through M. Maisky, told Britain that trade negotiations could be conducted through the British Ambassador, Sir William Seeds, or any ambassador appointed in his place. Sir Stafford Cripps is understood already to have reached Athens en route to Moscow, His visit had been planned as an endeavour to establish a basis for the resumption of trade talks between Britain and Russia
