7000 MEN KILLED
NAZI PARACHUTISTS INVASION OF HOLLAND AMAZING EQUIPMENT STOVES, MOTOR-CYCLES (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. May 30, 9 a.m.) LONDON, May 29. In the House of Commons Lieu-tenant-Colonel Sir W. D. Smiles (Con., Blackburn), gave an account he obtained from Dutch friends of the German parachute methods in Holland. “At least 7000 German parachutists were killed of the 10,000 landed in Holland.” lie said, “even those landing safely took 20 minutes to recover from the shock. “The parachutes carried men. motor-cycles and sub-machine guns. The men had enough tabloid food for a week, small meat rations, pocket petrol stoves and automatics capable of firing 200 rounds without reloading.”
