OBITUARY

MRS. MARY JACKSON The death occurred yesterday in the Cook Hospital of Mrs, Mary Jane Jackson, aged 66 years, after a long illness. Her death will be mourned by the many friends she made in this district. Mrs. Jackson was born in Orara, Clarence River, New South Wales, and came to Gisborne in 1903 after her marriage to the late Mr. Thomas John Jackson. Her husband, who was well known among the older residents of Gisborne, predeceased her by 29 years. At the time of his death he was a member of the Gisborne Borough Council. Although of a quiet and retiring nature, Mrs. Jackson was held in high esteem by her many friends. She was a respected member of the Salvation Army, and before her marriage was an officer and was stationed in various parts of New South Wales. She is survived by two daughters. Mrs. John Stein and Mrs. Elwyn Richards, Gisborne, and two sons, Messrs. T. C. Jackson and N. E, Jackson. Auckland. There are also four grandchildren. In addition, Mrs. Jackson is, survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Wilcox and Miss E. Ellis. New South Wales, and two brothers Messrs. Charles and James Ellis, New South Wales. The funeral will take place at the Makaraka cemetery to-morrow afternoon after a short service in the Salvation Army Citadel.
