ACTIVITIES AT WAINUI WAR DURATION PLANS STRONG RESERVE FUNDS Three . main items will be considered at the* annual meeting of the Wan nui Surf Life-Saving Club to-morrow evening, as follows: —(I) That the clul suspend life-saving activities for the duration of the war; (2) that the sur. boat be sold and the proceeds paid b the trustees of the depreciation fund and (3) that Messrs. S. W. Bruce, .1 H. Campbell, J. R. Beckett, and D. F Muir, or their nominees, be elector a committee of four to control the activities of the club for the duration of the war. Revenue had fallen away, but the financial position of the club wa: sound, according to the report. The excess of revenue over expenditure was £26. compared with £9 at the end of the previous season. The book value of the total assets was shown is £2BO. Cash in current and reserve accounts amounted to £lO3. The report added that strong reserves had been built up ;n anticipation of difficult years ahead. Fourteen present members and 11 ex-members of the club were on acive service. On account of the depletion of the ranks the club had fior] to withdraw from competitions. The report said that little notice had been taken of a warning „ivoi 'o youths against ihe i re of frail pop toon canoes in the si rf. The youih capsized while beyond the breaker: and were assisted ashore, tney continued to use the craft at a latci date. "The parents of the youths were informed of the danger. If the club is to operate efficiently the assistance of parents in these matters is essential," concludes the report.
