NO WEEK-END PLAY
GOLF COMPETITIONS SATURDAY’S FIXTURES ACTIVITY ON THE LINKS No competitions were played on Gisborne golf courses during the week-end in accordance with the desire of the New Zealand Golf Council, but as there is little such play on Sundays in the district the fixtures set down for play during the weekend were completed on. Saturday. The ideal weather on Saturday helped to speed up the games. POVERTY BAY CLUB In the Poverty Bay Club’s Mav tankard medal competition R. I. Harrison, who has reduced his handicap to one stroke, handed in three good cards to win with an aggregate of 212 in the No. 1 section. No. 2 section was won by H. M. Brown with 214. Lunken and S. Rule were defeated on Saturday in a match against W. Davidson and E. R. Brown, the challengers winning l up. The May tankard was won by D. A. Wells with a test round of 72 and other rounds of 70, 71. and 72, a total of 285. The runner-up was M. Taylor with an aggregate of 28a. tukanganui club The match between the men and women of the Turanganui club resulled in a win for the men by nine games to five,-
