HARRIERS’ RUN
HILL-COUNTRY COURSE RUN-HOME POINTS A good muster of harriers met on Saturday at the residence of Mr. T Leslie, Russell street, for their weekly run. Weather conditions were ideal, but the greasy going on the hills added many amusing incidents to make the run even more enjoyable. At 2.45 pm. the pack set off up Fox street, fallowing on from the bridle track at the end of this street up to the top of the hill. From there the trail followed the hilltops in a wide arc round the back of the rifle range and after 'dropping down across Valley road led back over the ridge at the top end of Richardson avenue The course of approximately six miles consisted entirely of hill work, and was the hardest run yet held this season. A run home over the last quartermile resulted: —R. Howard, 1; R. Beattie, 2; F. Forge. 3. A special trophy has been donated for the most points in the runs home throughout the season. Points for this cup now stand as follows; R. Howard, 16; K. Morse, 8; G. Clark, 6; C. Parkinson, 5; R. Beattie, 4; R. Harries, 3; H. Patterson, 2: and F. Forge, 1. It was decided to hold the first distance run for the Beattie Cup next Saturday. This cup is competed for annually over three distances, and is at present held by the Thompson brothers. The race next Saturday will be over a road course round Barkers Hill. Handicaps will be announced later in the week. All harriers are to meet at the club rooms at 2 p.m.
