MARKET HARDENS

STORTFORD LODGE SALE FAT CATTLE PRICES ' (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. The prices of fat cattle at the Stortford Lodge sale yesterday showed an improvement on the market of last week. Setter quality sorts met the market keenly and a number sold at 10s a head more than at the previous sale. Fat cattle numbered ■ 172, the smallest yarding within the month. Heifers made up a large percentage of the entries. The top price realised was £lO 15s. Of ox beef, the main entry was a line of Hereford bullocks at £l3. The best prices for cows ranged from £8 17s to £9 19s. In store sheep, the prices of breeding ewes were easier than at the previous sale. The yarding numbered 3000. Medium-grown two-tcoth ewes made 24s sd. Small grown realised 21s. Fat and forward wethers realised 23s Id. Of the fat sheep, ewes sold at from 19s to 24s (id. Wharerata. and Wairoa district lines of store sheep sold as follows: From Wharerata, 194, well-woolled two-tooth wethers, in forward order, fair framed, passed at 20s 9d; from Wharerata and railed from Wairoa. 107, well-framed forward ewes, well sliped, passed at 13s 9d. From Wairoa, 88. small-grown, woolly, Romney wether lambs, in light condition, sold at 11s; railed from Wairoa, woolly ewe lambs, small grown and in light to medium order, 1 hardy, realised 18s.
