FOREIGN SILVER
U.S. BUYING BANNED (Reed. May 11, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, May 9. The Senate, by 45 votes to 36, passed the Townsend* Bill prohibiting further Treasury purchases of foreign silver. The measure was opposed by the Administration.
