MAORI BOY SHOT DEAD
FATALITY IN BUSH A shooting tragedy occurred at Aramiro, 15 miles from Raglan and five miles from Waitetuna, on Tuesday, when a Maori boy, Whaka Hawea. aged 13, was shot in the chest and died immediately. Hawea went out into the bush shooting birds in company with Sam Wainihi, aged 15, who carried a pearifle. Rain fell and the two boys took shelter under a bank. After sitting down for a while Wainihi stood up and the rifle was discharged, the bullet entering Hawea’s chest near the heart.
