ALLIED RESOURCES CHECKING AGGRESSION RETALIATORY ACTION GAMELIN’S MESSAGE (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. May 11. noon.) LONDON. May 10. It is officially stated that His Majesty's Government and the* French Government are taking immediate steps to come to the assistance of Holland and Belgium with ail means at their command. At the same time it must be recognised that Germany once again had gained a military advantage by taking the initiative in attacking neutral countries. “The Germans have attempted to justify this act of aggression by allegations. of course completely false," proceeds the official statement. “On the contrary, as is well known, both Holland and Belgium have deliberately elected to pursue a policy of the strictest neutrality and have consistently declined, even in concert with the Allies, military measures for thendefence. Nevertheless, the Allies, who have taken all possible measures to provide for this eventuality in case of need, are now putting them into effect as speedily as possible.” The British and French Governments announce that, they reserve the right to take any action considered appropriate in the event of the enemy bombing British and French civilian populations, or those in countries assisted by the United Kingdom. The French Commander-in-Chief, Marshal Gamelin, in an order of the day states: “The attack which we have foreseen since last October has been launched. Germany is engaged in a war to the death against us. Here is the password for France and all her allies: ‘Courage, energy and confidence.’ "
