FUNERAL PROCESSION

AUCKLAND OBSEQUIES MAORIS TO PARTICIPATE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A conference was held at the Town Hall this morning between the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, Government and City Council officials to complete arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Savage on Sunday. After discussing the preliminaries, the committee surveyed the proposed route and the grave site at Bastion Point. Sub-committees set up will meet this afternoon and arrangements will be completed at a meeting of the general conference at noon to-morrow. Maoris will line the route near the Orakei native village on Sunday and 100 Maoris will deposit greenery on the grave in accordance with native custom. The Town Hall will be kept open until 10 o'clock on Saturday night for the reception of wreaths.
