SHANGHAI AGREEMENT
SETTLEMENT POLICE RESUMPTION OF CONTROL (Reed. March 2, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Feb. 29. The Shanghai correspondent of the United Press of America says that the Japanese Consul-General and the chairman of the International Settlement’s Municipal Council have signed an agreement permitting the settlement police to resume control of areas north of Soochow creek, which has been policed by the Japanese navy since August, 1937. The agreement partly restores the council’s former powers in the Japanese areas of the settlement.
