Mr. A. F. Excel;, manager of the Gisborne branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, Limited, is on annual leave. He is being relieved by Mr. B. T. D. Hume. Wellington. The Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, will represent the Government at a civic farewell to the Primate of New Zealand, Archbishop A. W. Averill, to be held in Auckland on March 7. Mr. Ross Gore has been appointed manager of the De Luxe Theatre, Wellington, in place of Mr, Trevor Lane, who has enlisted. Mr. S. R. Morrison, M.A., has been appointed by the Victoria University College Council to fill the position of tutor-organizer under the W.E.A. scheme. Mr. Morrison has had eight years’ experience of teaching in primary and secondary schools and carried out organizing and lecturing work during 1937, 1938 and 1939 at public works camps. A family gathering will celebrate to-morrow the eightieth birthday anniversary of Mr. Oliver Crafts, 456 Stout street. Mr. Crafts came to New Zealand over 60 years ago, and has spent more than 40 years in Gisborne, he and Mrs. Crafts having celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year, Both are still in good health, and Mr. Crafts is a keen gardening enthusiast. They have three daughters and four sons, the youngest son being Lieutenant Ivor Crafts, now on active service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force as a member of the Machine-Gun Battalion. There are 26 grand-children and one great-grandchild.
