DELIVERY OF MILK

AUCKLAND ZONING PLAN CUTTING USE OF PETROL (Per P'rass Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A decision to .prepare forthwith and put into effect from June 1, if possible, a scheme for the zoning <sf all parts of the Auckland metropolitan milk district not already zoned, was reached at a meeting of the Milk Council last night,, following discussions with; - the Government as to means of reducing the petrol consumption. The chairman, Mr. I. J. .Gbldstine, said that, following the recent cut in petrol consumption, the milk trade,, like all other businesses, suffered a reduction of 33 1-3 per cent. As this would have to be made, it was impossible to continue the distribution of milk on the present basis. Representations had been made to the Commissioner of Transport. The council had agreed to a request from the Government that districts not already zoned should be completely zoned by June 1 and, on this -understanding, it was able to obtain temporary relief for vendors to distribute milk as formerly for the time being.
